Through our investor network and SmartBusiness program, the Partnership maintains extensive connections among businesses in Greater Halifax. We play a key role in mobilizing the private sector to support immigration initiatives in Halifax.
Immigration Employer Support Program
The Partnership's Immigration Employer Support Program helps small, medium and large size businesses learn how
they can hire skilled workers from abroad. It provides employers with
information on the opportunities and benefits of hiring immigrants and
how they can begin the process.
Over 200 employers have taken advantage of this service, either through one-on-one visits with our Account Executive or by attending a group employer information session in various growth sectors
including Aerospace and Defence, Financial Services, Transportation,
Manufacturing and Health Services.
Connector Program
The Connector Program is designed to link newcomers and international students with contacts in the public and private sector helping them to develop professional networks and successful settle in our community.
Since the program's launch, over 300 business and community leaders have signed on as connectors. As a result, 57 immigrants have obtained jobs.
Welcome Home to Canada Job Fair
Partnership staff has been involved with over the past number of years
is the “Welcome Home to Canada” Job Fair at Pier 21, where immigrants
and employers come together. The Partnership works with Pier 21 to
identify employers to participate in the event.
