Immigration to Halifax

Nova Scotia’s Office of Immigration runs the Provincial Nominee Program. This program allows Nova Scotian’s to help select immigrants to come to Canada.

Immigrants play a vital role in enabling the province to meet its industrial, economic, and labour-market needs by filling shortages in the permanent workforce. The immigration process enhances the diversity of Halifax by contributing new investment, skills, and international business connections.

GHP: A Community Identified Organization
The Greater Halifax Partnership is a mandated Community Identified Organization. Newcomers in Greater Halifax who want to apply for Nova Scotia’s “Community Identified’ stream of the Provincial Nominee Program, must contact us to obtain a letter of identification before they can apply.

Our role is to screen candidates based on their long established community connections and potential labour market and economic contributions. We then support them through this first step in their immigration process. For more information on the "Community Identified" stream, contact Robyn Webb.

  • Help for newcomers to adapt to society and become Canadian citizens
  • Management of access to those moving to Canada, to ensure security and health for all Canadians and integrity of Canadian laws.
