How to get here

Wherever you are, or wherever you’re going, Greater Halifax is easily within reach and offers fast, seamless connections to the rest of the world.

By Land

Hwy 102 EnfieldNova Scotia’s province-wide network of highways connect to the TransCanada Highway system and all points across Canada and the United States.

Acadian Lines provides bus service connections with SMT Bus Lines in New Brunswick, which has connections with the Greyhound and Voyageur lines in New York and Montreal. Intraprovincial bus lines in Amherst link most major Nova Scotian communities.

VIA Rail Canada’s Halifax and Truro stations also provide transcontinental train service.

By Sea

CAT unloadNova Scotia is accessible by ferry services from Bar Harbour and Portland, Maine as well as Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland. All ferry ports are within a four-hour drive to Greater Halifax. These ferries run daily in the summer months for your convenience.

By Air

Hfx Airplane landingNova Scotia is two hours closer geographically by air to Europe than any other North American destination and Halifax is closer to New York and Boston than any other major Canadian city.

The Halifax Stanfield International Airport is the Atlantic Canadian hub for all domestic, regional, and international flights. The airport offers scheduled air service to all major Canadian cities, all major United States cities through connecting hubs at Boston, Newark, and Washington, D.C., and to major European cities through connecting hubs in London. Halifax Stanfield International Airport is the only airport in Atlantic Canada to offer U.S. Customs pre-clearance. Scheduled charter services are also available linking Nova Scotia with many Canadian and European cities.

Air carriers serving Halifax include: Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz, WestJet, Continental Express, Delta, Northwest, American Eagle, Air St. Pierre, Condor, Zoom, Go Travel Direct Vacations, Provincial and Skyservice. Halifax Stanfield International Airport has a current listing of air carriers.

Limousine service and car rentals are available at all our provincial airports – Halifax, Yarmouth, and Sydney – and a shuttle bus travels to and from Halifax-area hotels for your convenience.
