Immigrating to halifax

On January 26, 2005 the Province of Nova Scotia launched their immigration strategy to attract, welcome and retain thousands of new immigrants. Immigrants enhance the value and diversity of Halifax by contributing new investment, skills and international business connections. Nova Scotia’s Office of Immigration runs the Nova Scotia Nominee Program. This program allows Nova Scotian’s to help select immigrants to come to Canada. Immigrants play a vital role in enabling the province to meet its industrial, economic and labour-market needs by filling shortages in the permanent workforce.

The Greater Halifax Partnership is a mandated Community Identified Organization. This means that newcomers in Greater Halifax who want to apply for Nova Scotia’s “Community Identified’ stream of the Provincial Nominee Program, must contact us to obtain a letter of identification before they can apply. Our role is to screen candidates based on their long established community connections and potential labour market and economic contributions, and support them through this first step in their immigration process. For more information on the "Community Identified" stream, contact Robyn Webb at greaterhalifax.com.
