Province invests $20M in Halifax Shipyard
Irving's Halifax Shipyard Ltd. was awarded a $20-million five-year loan from the province's Industrial Expansion Fund, which will go toward rebuilding wharfs, refurbishing and replacing cranes, and improving fabrication areas and offices. According to the president of Local 1 of the CAW Marine Workers Federation the investment will very soon lead to new jobs for skilled tradespersons. Internetworking Atlantic opens server farm downtown
Local technology company Internetworking Atlantic Inc. opened a $1-million server farm in downtown Halifax this month. The company is hoping to attract local, national and international customers to the secure data storage facility. Internetworking currently employs twelve staff, but expects to add two or three more employees by the end of 2010. (Source: Chronicle Herald, February 11, 2010)


Halifax places second in national Sustainable Cities ranking 
Corporate Knights Magazine has unveiled its fourth-annual Corporate Knights Most Sustainable Cities in Canada list and Halifax has ranked second. “We are pleased to continue to rank in the top tier of medium-sized cities with Corporate Knights. Our Municipality is committed to being a healthy, sustainable, vibrant community. Over the last few years we have invested more than $7 million in energy efficiency projects.
