Greater Halifax has the largest population east of Québec City and north of Boston and it ranks thirteenth among all metropolitan areas in Canada. As of the 2011 Statistics Canada Census, Halifax's population was 390,096 persons, this was an increase of 4.7% over the 2006 Census. (Note: This represents the census undercount, which is typically 2-3% less than the actual population.)
