Cynthia Dorrington is the VP, Client Relations with Vale & Associates Human Resource Management and Consulting Inc., a firm with a key focus on human resource management and/or consulting advice to small to medium size organizations.
Prior to starting her own business in 2004, Cynthia worked in the high-tech / telecommunications / consulting industry for 19 years with the following organizations, Aliant Inc., xwave, and Minacs Worldwide Inc. While in industry, Cynthia’s background spanned IT, Project Management and Training and Development. Today Cynthia does consulting work in areas of Human Resource Advisory Services, Strategic Planning, Employment Equity / Diversity Management, Performance Management, Training and Development and Team Building and Effectiveness. Vale & Associates has provided consulting services to a number of clients in the private, para-public, public and not-for-profit sectors locally, nationally and internationally.
Cynthia holds a Certificate in Management Development for Women, a program jointly conducted from Saint Mary’s University and Mount St. Vincent University, as well as a Certificate in Business Information Systems. Cynthia is currently completing her Diploma in Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University and her Certificate in Human Resource Management from Saint Mary’s University.
Cynthia has been an active participant in business and community groups for many years. Her most recent initiatives include:
- Appointment to the Halifax Police Chief’s Diversity Advisory Committee;
- Canadian Progress Club – Halifax – Cornwallis Chapter (Membership Chair/ 2006 Chair for the Women of Excellence Dinner )
- Halifax Chamber of Commerce (member);
- Canadian Aboriginal Minority Supplier Council (member);
- Centre for Women in Business (member);
- Human Resources Association of Nova Scotia (member);
- Canadian Condominium Institute – Nova Scotia Chapter (Executive member);
