Ujamaa is a collaborative and sustainable development initiative supported by some of Nova Scotia’s most influential leaders from the African Nova Scotia (ANS) Community and the Greater Halifax Partnership (The Partnership) to empower the ANS community to reach its full potential.
Ujamaa takes an integrated, unified approach to community development with a focus on the sustainability of the ANS community.
Ujamaa objectives:
Positive change through an integrated and transformative funding approach
Support through public‐private investments that will help reduce and ultimately, eliminate systemic challenges
Alignment and Partnership through the mutual support and understanding between community leaders and members, government, public agencies, private enterprise, and non‐government organizations (NGOs)
Capacity Building through the enhancement of ANS programs and the empowerment of the ANS community.
