Shipbuilding is in our blood

The $30 billion National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) and the potential for Irving Shipbuilding’s Halifax Shipyard to win the $25 billion combat ships portion is an opportunity our city and province must seize to positively and profitably transform our economy.  This is the biggest opportunity for Nova Scotia since the navy was established 100 years ago.

Based on expertise, experience, investment in training and infrastructure and a commitment to excellence, no one is better suited to meet the federal government’s needs than Irving Shipbuilding.

Nova Scotia is the premier location for shipbuilding in Canada.

We have:

  • Modern facilities – Irving Shipbuilding invested millions in infrastructure and technology upgrades between 2006 and 2011
  • Expertise - a highly skilled workforce with thousands of people currently working in the industry
  • Strong partnerships – Irving Shipbuilding is working with the community colleges and universities to train the next generation of workers
  • 120 years of experience and an exceptional track record
