Halifax Regional Municipality's current economic plan (Strategies for Success-2005-2010)
expires this fall. All three levels of government and the private
sector agree that a renewed Economic Strategy for 2011-2016 is
immediately required to lift our city and region to the next level of
economic development and growth.
The review and renewal process
must capture and align the expectations of businesses, governments, and
the whole community. The process began in late April with a review of
existing research and is broken into four phases ending March 31, 2011
with the creation of the next strategy.
We are now in the final Phase of the project which includes obtaining approvals of the strategy, launch of the strategy and agreement for ongoing implementation and engagement.
The most recent strategy presentation: A GREATER Halifax: 2011-16 Economic Strategy for Halifax - outlines our vision, strategy approach, principles and values, what
success will look like, 5 goals and related objectives, the
implementation process, measurement approach (the Halifax Index) and the
roles each stakeholder group will play in implementation.
The strategy will be presented to HRM Regional Council on March 22, 2011 for its endorsement.
Everyone has a role to play in developing and implementing this strategy. That includes
you! Your ideas, insights and feedback will help to ensure that both
the strategic direction and the eventual economic action plan reflect
the true needs and interests of all.
