Who we are
The Greater Halifax Partnership leads economic growth for Greater Halifax. Our focus is our businesses, our people, our community.
We recognize that smart business is the cornerstone of a strong community. It creates the jobs and wealth that protect and enhance our quality of life. That strength expands well beyond the business community to the arts and cultural sector, the youth in our schools, the organizations that work to enrich our neighbourhoods, and the individuals and their families who move here and call Halifax home.
Our innovative business model has enabled us to effectively engage the business community, in partnership with the public sector. We bring all three levels of government together with more than 150 private sector investors and many different community groups to drive the economic growth of our region.
We are committed to innovation, shifting attitudes, partnership, and aligning the many interests involved throughout Greater Halifax. In this way, we can more effectively create jobs and high-quality employment opportunities for our citizens, to create one vision for us all that will actively support the development of local business, residents and communities.
What we do
The Greater Halifax Partnership has now firmly established itself as the champion for economic development involving all the people, reaching all the communities and businesses in Greater Halifax – be it the priorities of urban, suburban, or rural communities or the interests of large or small businesses. We also realize that our businesses and communities compete with the world.
Accessing the latent power of partnerships and creating innovative approaches to drive economic growth is what we’re about. We know – and have demonstrated – that the strength of a single partnership far exceeds that of its individual partners.
Many opportunities lie ahead. Our task is to use the responsiveness of our public private model to seize these opportunities. There are also many challenges. Our role is to help identify and address those challenges hand in hand with the businesses that drive our economic engine and the people who live and work here. Together we will move forward.
With our investors and all three levels of government, we’re working to create a competitive business climate in Greater Halifax. Most of our focus is on strengthening core skills to keep and grow existing businesses. We’re also focusing on initiatives to attract or get new investment into Greater Halifax. We’re working to encourage the hiring of immigrants and to find ways to retain our young workers. And we’re working to build capacity in communities by aligning different community interests.
The bottom line – we bring business, people and community together to grow the economy.
